The Press Democrat

"Measure DD emphasizes local road repairs and climate-friendly alternatives to automobiles, including bus service and bike and pedestrian paths. Revenue would be divided between the two categories, with 65% for roads and 35% for everything else…Sonoma County desperately needs to improve its roads and transit, just as it improved Highway 101. Measure DD would help achieve those goals. The Press Democrat recommends a yes vote."

"New infrastructure challenges still remain in Sonoma County, including making our transportation system resilient in the face of climate change. The SCTA is seeking to extend the sales tax, which is on the ballot this year as Measure DD. Voters would be wise to approve...the main safeguard in this tax is the agency that administers the funds. The SCTA, under the leadership of Executive Director Suzanne Smith, has been an excellent steward of taxpayer money for almost 20 years. Its officials have kept all of their promises, which is rare for a governmental agency...The Argus-Courier recommends a yes vote on Measure DD for a modern transportation network."

”Measure DD is an extension of an existing sales tax for an additional 20 years. This sales tax is dedicated to paying for local transportation projects, including public transit and other less polluting options, which helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Reducing greenhouse gas emissions is a major component of addressing global warming and climate change. Extension of the tax now will provide local matching funds, which may be used to secure both state and federal funding for transportation projects and allows for more long-range planning.”
